Just installed an Onion Shelter in Fleet, a small but growing town in Hampshire. The Onion is primarily to be used as a youth shelter in a local park, but is also located between the playground and the football pitch so the hope is it will be used by a wide cross section of the community. This is the second Onion with the extended roof design. As it was going into a public space and aimed at the youth we felt we needed to reinforce the edge of the roof and so added another layer of oak framing. This worked really well and we really like the added structure, fixing the roof panels securely to this and the timber roof edge detail it created. Therefore this will become a standard detail for all public space roofed Onion Shelters from now on.
