Winter Gardens, Sheffield

The final in a flurry of local domestic projects, but by far the most ambitious, and longest in the making, to date. We have created our own version of Sheffield City Centre’s Winter Gardens, which like its name sake will be full of semi-tropical vegetation, growing up and down. It features an avenue of glue laminated oak arches, supporting a 6m roof beam and triple glazed roof lights and windows. With a double opening step through window in the centre made by John Vardy. Sliding doors fill the gable and bi-fold doors the end garden room.

As well as this we made a 20m traditionally jointed timber frame building down the side of the property with sky lights and greenroof on top. This space will be split into the garden room, pottery kiln, storage and garage. All with UK Douglas Fir, apart from the oak ribs. and all super insulated.

More photos to come once the inside has been completed.
