Show time

We recently had a stand at the Futurescapes show in London with part of the truss framed building we are currently making, lots of pictures of our previous projects and a 1:1 model of the joints involved in the corner of the truss frame. We oak pegged the frame together, so it was a purely timber structure.

The model shows the complex joints between the: post, wall plate, tie beam and principle rafter. As well as standard mortise and tenons there was a stepped dovetail for the tie beam, so the load is properly transferred down to the posts, and a saddled mortise and tenon for the principle rafter, again to keep the loads going in the right direction.
